Country Thunder
hails from Wisconsin and Arizona, featuring premier country performers. The festival made its debut in Calgary in 2016 over 3 days at Prairie Winds Park with 25,000 attendees each day.
Challenge
Country Thunder was new to Calgary, and first impressions are everything. We needed to assist this event in navigating Calgary’s event waste procedures, as well as plan for the infrastructure to effectively service the large site.
Towards Zero Waste
We worked with the event to establish their needs, and come up with a plan to please the organizers, the vendors, the guests, and leave the park cleaner than before. A festival of this size needed waste collection infrastructure, and with the attendance, the staff to manage it. For a first go, we diverted an impressive 55 per cent.
