The Oxford Stomp is long standing event during the Calgary Stampede, made possible by the partnership between The Rotary Club of Calgary. As a large, outdoor charity event 20 years running, the Oxford Stomp brings big names, and earns big dollars for The Rotary Club of Calgary to invest back into our city.
Challenge
Attracting guests from far and wide to The Oxford Stomp during the Calgary Stampede, we all benefit from showing off our best to the rest of the world. This also means the challenge of keeping the event site attractive during this outdoor concert.
Towards Zero Waste
Working hand in hand with the event organizers, Green Event Services continues to bring waste diversion best practices like educating vendors to reduce packaging, utilizing compostable foodware, and inviting guests to become involved. With a feature feast like Rotary’s famous Beef-on-a-bun dinner with campfire beans, coleslaw and fruit salad, we can’t help but drool over the opportunity to convert the leftovers to valuable compost. Sadly, the 2016 event was cancelled due to Mother Nature’s showers. We were itching to beat our 2015 achievement of 87 per cent waste diversion!
